ABOUT USSticky Wilson Stands has been created by Charlie Wilson Owner/Body Piercer of Sunderland Body Art Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio, with the help of the rest of the team there.
The idea for the stands came about after years of using make-shift arm rests from tripods used for cameras and screwing the camera attachment to a padded top.
The tattooists have hydraulic manoeuvrable chairs to use for getting their customers into the right angles for tattooing the majority of places on the body, but for arm rests the tripods were not ideal. After a while of use they would bend and give way under the pressure and from the angles they were being rested on.
After not finding anything suitable to buy for the job Charlie and the team came up with some ideas for making a lasting, solid and sturdy stand themselves. So instead of just having a plain stand their idea was to customise them with a personal touch as well as keeping them practical and maintainable at the same time.
Once some ideas had been drawn up Charlie went on the hunt and found a local fabrication company and went to see if they could make the stands. He did the same for the cushioned tops, finding a local upholsterer to pad and cover the bases that Charlie had cut to size to fit onto the stands.
With the input and expertise of these guys prototypes for the stands and tops were soon produced, they were then tried and tested by the tattooists in the studio. With a few modifications the stands came to life and were a success.
Production soon got under way with the aim to create a handful of different style stands which would appeal to other tattoo artists.
